Our guide to the Job Related Fitness Test (JRFT) has been compiled by a fully qualified personal fitness instructor, Bella Clayton. Bella has been a personal fitness instructor for more than eight years, working at well known health clubs and as a free-lance instructor coaching both novices and experienced athletes. Bella has recently appeared as a contestant in the hit TV show ‘Gladiators’ and has boxed in the Metropolitan Police Lafone Cup.
Bella has designed two fitness programmes, specifically aimed at improving your fitness in the areas assessed in the JRFT. In addition to this you will receive a free bleep test audio CD, (with instructions) so that you can check if you are able to reach the required standard, prior to attending the fitness assessment.
The JRFT forms part of the National Recruitment Standards and is used to determine levels of physical fitness, for specific police roles.
Policing is a challenging occupation. You will be expected to perform a large number of physically demanding tasks on a fairly regular basis. In fact when everyone else is running away from danger, you will often find yourself heading straight towards it.
The JRFT is designed to assess those areas of fitness required to cope with the nature and extent of the physical demands street duty policing entails. The information contained in this guide will allow you to start preparing to take the test.
We suggest that you begin training immediately, as once you have passed Day 1 you may only have a short time to get fit, for the JRFT. There can be nothing worse than getting this far only to fail now, through not preparing properly.
You are not required to be super fit, far from it, but if your running shoes have sat in the cupboard for several months gathering dust, it may surprise you just how quickly your fitness levels may have dropped. The cost of the Job Related Fitness Test guide including Bellas fitness programme and your complimentary Bleep Test CD is available for a very reasonable £14.99. If you would like to order your copy please either order through our 'Online Store' or contact us through the 'Contact Us' link on the left to place an order by cheque or postal order.Don't risk failing at this stage of the application. The hard work is done, now make sure you are fit enough.
