The police application process is standardised across England and Wales. The various stages are discussed below.
This a standardised national police application form for both Special Constabulary and regular officers, which asks you to provide personal details about yourself and your immediate family, employment history, your qualifications and skills. Around 65% of applicants fail at this stage of the selection process meaning at least a six month wait before they can re-apply.
The Day 1 Assessment Centre is the next big hurdle, which only 1 in 7 applicants pass successfully. The Day 1 assessment consists of Maths and English tests, two Written Reports, four Interactive Role-Play Scenarios and a Structured Interview. We cover this in more detail elsewhere on this site, and you can discover how we can help you with our Day 1 practice sessions, one-to-one training and Home Study Guides.
The Day 2 consists of the Job Related Fitness Test (JRFT) and a full medical. You can now purchase a training schedule and bleep test CD from the website. Just click on the Job Related Fitness Test link on the left.
Finally you will receive a date to start your police training. Now the hard work really starts!
"I just want to say thank you both for everything. The course helped me a lot. I passed my Day 1 and have just passed my day 2". A.F. PCSO MPS
